## Safety First! Instagram Officially Launches Enhanced 'Teen Accounts' for 14-18 Year Olds Instagram has fully unveiled new 'Teen Accounts' for users aged 14 to 18, stepping up efforts to enhance online safety. Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, emphasized during a 'Safer Internet Day' briefing that the safety of young people is the top priority, and that this feature was introduced with that in mind. These new Teen Accounts come with essential protective measures for young people built-in as standard, including: default private settings, restricted contact range, reduced exposure to sensitive content, and time management features. This supports young users in using Instagram in a safer and more controlled environment. Beyond the introduction of such technical safety features, Instagram is making multifaceted efforts to create a healthy digital environment for young people. Lee Seul-ki, Director of Public Policy at Meta Korea, stated that they are developing various educational resources through collaboration with young people, parents, and experts. In particular, through the 'Family Center' and 'Safety Center' websites, they provide expert advice and management tools. They also continue close cooperation with domestic and international civic organizations, for example, by regularly hosting the 'Youth Safety & Well-being Summit' in the Asia-Pacific region. Jung Da-jung, Head of Communications at Instagram, emphasized that "we will continue to spare no effort in supporting young people to have age-appropriate and safe online experiences," and stated that the platform will be continuously improved by reflecting user feedback.
