Real estate short-term rental platform 'SamSamM2' has announced the results of a survey proving that it is establishing itself as a flexible housing solution for modern people, beyond simple travel accommodation. This survey, conducted by its operator Space V targeting 200,000 users, sheds light on a new aspect of the short-term rental market. The survey results revealed that the core purpose of using SamSamM2 was 'practicality in daily life.' 38% of respondents utilized the platform for short-term stays for business trips or work, representing the highest proportion. Demand for temporary housing during moving preparations or interior renovations also reached 24%, highlighting the importance of securing flexible space during housing transitions. Use for academic or other purposes also accounted for 15%. It is noteworthy that demand for non-travel purposes, such as work, moving, and academics, accounts for 80% of the total. This clearly demonstrates that short-term rentals are expanding their value as a 'temporary living solution' that fulfills various needs in daily life. Beyond the traditional concept of tourist accommodation, it is establishing itself as a form of housing that responds to unpredictable life changes. While travel or leisure purposes account for 23%, still a significant proportion, it can be interpreted that they are not the platform's primary driving force. This increase in demand for flexible housing is directly linked to SamSamM2's explosive growth. The annual transaction volume, which was 5 billion KRW in 2022, has recorded high growth rates every year, surging to a remarkable 84 billion KRW in 2024. Notably, the transaction volume for the first quarter of this year reached 35 billion KRW, approximately three times higher than the same period last year, proving that this growth trend is ongoing. Park Hyung-jun, CEO of Space V, stated, "This survey demonstrates that the short-term rental market is being widely utilized for practical and realistic purposes." He added that they plan to continue expanding the diversity of residential types and the flexibility of housing mobility by providing housing options and services that can satisfy various demand groups. SamSamM2 is expected to lead the market by presenting a new housing paradigm tailored to the evolving lifestyles of modern people, moving beyond simple accommodation.
