Naver will officially launch its 'AI Briefing' service, set to revolutionize the search experience, on the 27th. This service, which will be immediately available to all Naver users via integrated search on PC and mobile without separate sign-up, is a core component of Naver's 'AI Internalization' strategy and a culminating product that emphasizes its 'On-Service AI' strategy of integrating AI across all service areas.
AI Briefing goes beyond merely summarizing search results. By integrating generative AI and personalized recommendation technology, it concisely provides key information related to user queries while clearly connecting to original sources and creators, thereby fostering a healthy content ecosystem. This holds significant meaning as it actualizes Naver's long-standing philosophical values of 'diversity' and 'connection' through AI technology.
Initially, the service will be offered in four forms.
The **Official and Multi-Source** AI Briefings, located at the top of search results, are optimized for cases requiring clear information, such as driver's license renewal, or exploration of diverse content like trending memes and movie endings. They utilize vast sources including blogs, cafes, and clips, and also provide personalized recommendation information tailored to the user's search context, enhancing search satisfaction.
For users who prefer short and fast content consumption, the **Short-Form Content Type** AI Briefing summarizes short-form content on various topics such as sports, beauty, and travel to help users quickly grasp information and provides related recommendations.
The **Place-Type** AI Briefing, specialized in local information and travel content, plans to gradually expand its service areas, starting with major overseas cities such as Osaka and Kyoto in Japan. When searching for local keywords like 'Kyoto travel,' it provides organized information by category, such as local restaurants, cultural heritage sites, and recommended accommodations, helping with practical travel planning.
The **Shopping-Type** AI Briefing, already available as 'AI Shopping Guide' in the 'Naver Plus Store' app, systematically summarizes vast product information and provides purchasing tips, helping users find optimal products with just a few clicks, without complex searches. This significantly reduces the time and effort spent on shopping, enhancing purchasing satisfaction.
Naver plans to expand the application of AI Briefing functionality to more search queries within the year, and will sequentially introduce multimodal services utilizing image search, as well as multilingual support features for English, Japanese, and more. Through this, it aims to effectively connect 40 million users with 3.3 million small and medium-sized businesses and creators, fostering sustainable growth of the content ecosystem.
Kim Kwang-hyun, Head of Naver's Search/Data Platform division, stated, "Starting with AI Briefing, Naver Search will become more advanced by connecting users with the information they need through easy and rich content," and added that Naver is ready to provide new user experiences tailored for the era of AI agents at the opportune moment.
