Jeonbuk to Build Physical AI Data Center with KRW 20.6 Billion Investment
Moare, a leader in AI infrastructure solutions, in collaboration with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, is launching the innovative 'Jeonbuk Physical AI Data Center Project'. This strategic investment agreement, signed on the 16th, is regarded as a significant step that will reshape South Korea's AI infrastructure landscape, going beyond mere investment. Over the next three years, Moare will invest a total of KRW 20.6 billion to establish a state-of-the-art AI data center and research hub at the Jeonbuk Tech Business Center in Jeonju City. Additionally, the company plans to recruit over 20 specialized personnel who will be dedicated to operating the center and focusing on AI research and development, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local economy. The core of this project lies in moving away from reliance on expensive NVIDIA GPUs and building an independent and efficient 'non-NVIDIA' based infrastructure. By actively adopting various AI semiconductors such as AMD and Tenstorrent, and combining them with Moare's uniquely developed infrastructure optimization software, the ambition is to provide a computational environment that is significantly more powerful yet much cheaper than existing solutions. This innovative approach, which simultaneously achieves cost-efficiency and scalability, is expected to set a new standard in the domestic AI infrastructure market. Upon completion of the center, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, and research institutions in the Jeonbuk region will no longer bear the burden of high-cost hardware construction and will be able to freely utilize high-performance AI computing resources. Jeonbuk Province plans to use these resources as the cornerstone for the AI transformation (AX) of key industries such as smart farms, secondary batteries, future cars, defense, and robots, as well as for physical AI demonstration projects, thereby elevating regional industrial competitiveness by another level. The convergence of Moare's technology and Jeonbuk Province's vision is expected to accelerate AI innovation across the entire regional industry. Jo Kang-won, CEO of Moare, described this agreement as "an ideal model where private innovative technology and full public infrastructure support create synergy," and expressed the vision of "playing a pivotal role in establishing the physical AI ecosystem envisioned by Jeonbuk Province." This not only presents a successful role model for public-private cooperation but also demonstrates a strong commitment to the future development of the AI industry. Meanwhile, Moare, which has solidified its unique position in the field of AI infrastructure software, has recently been expanding its technological scope through its foundation LLM subsidiary, Motif Technologies, and strengthening cooperation with global semiconductor leaders like AMD and Tenstorrent, further increasing the likelihood of success for this Jeonbuk project. Moare's investment in Jeonbuk is expected to be more than just business expansion; it is anticipated to be a crucial catalyst for strengthening the diversity and competitiveness of the domestic AI ecosystem.
