## Gwangju Bank Breaks Down Language Barriers with AI: Innovating Financial Services for Foreigners Gwangju Bank, a leading financial institution in the region, is innovatively improving access to financial services for foreign customers by adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Partnering with Flitto, an AI language data specialist company, the bank has introduced the 'Chat Translation Enterprise' system, which provides real-time support for a total of 38 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, as well as Vietnamese, Thai, and Malay. This enables seamless communication between tellers and foreign customers, largely resolving the inconveniences previously caused by language barriers. Currently, operations have commenced at six branches, including Songjeong and Jinwoldong, and will be expanded to 12 counters across eight branches, including the soon-to-be-established Foreigner Financial Center and mobile branches. Notably, this system was developed with careful consideration of Gwangju Bank's specific characteristics. Frequently used response phrases can be instantly delivered with a single button click, and voice recognition accuracy for Jeonnam region dialects has been enhanced, thereby considering the convenience of elderly customers. This introduction leads to tangible benefits, enabling numerous foreign students in the region to easily handle major financial tasks such as tuition payments, and allowing approximately 6,000 foreign workers to conduct banking transactions in their native languages. Lee Jung-soo, CEO of Flitto, expressed his pleasure that AI translation and interpretation technology will provide greater convenience to customers in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, further stating their ambition to contribute to the establishment of a global financial ecosystem with region-specific AI solutions. Gwangju Bank's latest initiative is regarded as a significant step that goes beyond mere technology adoption, helping diverse members of the local community enjoy more inclusive financial services.
