Finders AI announces innovation in Singaporean user experience with 'app-less, pay-after unmanned stores'
Finders AI has opened a demonstration unmanned store for its employees at Singapore Changi Airport, presenting an innovative user experience to the Asian retail market. This store, its first base in Singapore, serves as a foundation for local technology verification and operational testing, aiming to open its first commercial store in Singapore within the upcoming third quarter.
Singapore is experiencing the second most severe labor shortage in Asia after Japan, and the retail industry, in particular, faces a persistent labor shortage due to its low wage structure. Against this backdrop, the adoption of unmanned stores has rapidly expanded, making Singapore the country with the second-highest number of unmanned stores after Japan. However, most existing unmanned stores require card tapping or app installation upon entry, a limitation that has been pointed out as reducing accessibility for first-time customers and tourists.
To address these inconveniences of existing unmanned stores, Finders AI has implemented an 'app-less, post-payment unmanned store'. Customers can freely enter and exit the store without any separate authentication process, and a multitude of cameras and advanced vision AI technology track customer movements in real-time, automatically recognize purchased items, and process payments in a one-stop manner. This provides a much more intuitive and convenient user experience compared to existing self-barcode methods, and boasts top-tier accuracy and security.
Finders AI's solution, which has already proven its precision and stability in domestic commercial stores, is recognized for its competitiveness among global vision AI-based unmanned solutions due to its outstanding cost-efficiency. Ham Myung-won, CEO of Finders AI, stated, "Despite being a latecomer, we are setting new standards for customer experience through our pay-after method, which allows entry without an app and automatic payment." He added that starting with the Changi Airport demonstration store, they are preparing for the expansion of commercial stores in airports as well as active entry into the entire Southeast Asian region.
Through the operation of this demonstration store, Finders AI plans to accumulate local operational know-how and further advance its technology by actively incorporating customer feedback. Based on this, it will lead changes in the Singaporean retail market and further strengthen its position in the global unmanned solution market.
