Bitsensing-Koreawide to Pilot 500 Bus ADAS Systems
Radar solution company Bitsensing has partnered with transport specialist Koreawide (Gyeongbuk Express, Jinan Express) to launch a demonstration project for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) for commercial vehicles, opening a new chapter in safe commercial vehicle operation. This collaboration aims to install Bitsensing's innovative ADAS Kit in Koreawide's express, intercity, and city buses, verifying its performance in various real-world road environments, with a future goal of expanding its application to over 500 buses. Bitsensing's ADAS Kit is an advanced sensor solution integrating radar, camera, and ADAS functions. Optimized for commercial vehicle operation, it performs forward, side, lane, and pedestrian detection, and provides key safety functions such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Blind Spot Information System (BSIS). In particular, it is designed to effectively respond to complex traffic situations frequently encountered during urban driving of large buses, such as sudden braking, lane departure, and the risk of pedestrian collisions. The demonstration will take place on actual route sections, including downtown Daegu, meticulously evaluating detection accuracy, response speed, and driver convenience based on operational data. Bitsensing plans to use this data to enhance its commercial vehicle-specific algorithms and expand the scope of application beyond buses to various commercial vehicle lineups, including trucks. This collaboration is expected to be a successful case where Koreawide's extensive operational network and data are combined with Bitsensing's unique sensor technology, laying a solid foundation for the commercialization of ADAS in commercial vehicles. Jaeeun Lee, CEO of Bitsensing, emphasized, "Buses present a challenging environment for verifying the effectiveness of ADAS," adding, "Through our collaboration with Koreawide, our radar-camera fusion technology will establish itself as a reliable safety solution in the commercial vehicle market." Sanghoon Lee, CEO of Koreawide Gyeongbuk Express, expressed his aspirations, saying, "We hope this project will serve as an important opportunity to set new safety standards in the bus industry." Both companies plan to directly showcase the operation of a demonstration bus equipped with the ADAS Kit at 'FIX 2025 (Future Car Convergence Expo)', held from October 22nd to 25th at EXCO in Daegu. This project is noted as a significant step that will dramatically improve the safety of both commercial vehicle drivers and passengers.
