Seedronix, a leader in AI ship autonomous navigation solutions, has announced an innovative leap forward. Its AI surround-view system for small vessels, 'NAVISS Compact,' was successfully installed on a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fireboat and completed its demonstration, proving that it has opened new horizons in enhancing maritime safety and efficiency.
This achievement was conducted as part of 'In-Beta,' a prestigious technology verification program organized by the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) under Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs. Seedronix was selected as a demonstration product after rigorous evaluation and successfully proved NAVISS Compact's excellent docking safety and operational efficiency in a real fireboat operational environment. This is considered a significant accomplishment, validating the reliability and practicality of AI-based autonomous navigation technology on a global stage.
'NAVISS Compact' inherits the core functionalities of existing AI surround-view systems for large vessels, while boasting a design optimized for small vessels by dramatically reducing the size and weight of its sensor modules. Specifically developed for vessels under 100 gross tons and approximately 30 meters in length, it delivers peak performance even in limited spaces.
Particularly in this demonstration, beyond simple AI surround-view, automatic object recognition, and collision prevention alarm functions, the AI docking path suggestion feature utilizing advanced LiDAR-based sensor fusion technology garnered attention. This provided optimal navigation guidance to crew members even in challenging environments such as night operations and precise docking between vessels, thoroughly validating its operational support capability in situations requiring delicate maneuvering. It demonstrated a core technology capable of dramatically enhancing ship safety even in situations where visibility at sea is difficult to secure.
The Singapore fireboat operating authority evaluated the demonstration results very positively and is actively considering introducing the NAVISS Compact system to all fireboats in the country. This signifies that Seedronix's technology has earned the trust of a Singaporean government agency, and its adoption is expected to accelerate further through additional verification procedures in the future.
Building on the success of this fireboat demonstration, Seedronix is further solidifying its position in the small vessel market. Recently, it expanded its business by installing the system on crew transfer vessels (CTVs) and plans to lead innovation across the entire maritime industry by expanding the supply of AI autonomous navigation systems to various public vessels, such as fishery patrol boats and research vessels, in the future.
Noh Kyung-soo, COO of Seedronix, stated, "Seedronix's unique technological prowess has been recognized in Singapore, a key hub for the global shipping and port industry." He added, "We will leverage this successful demonstration as a strong bridgehead to officially enter the global maritime autonomous navigation market and contribute to enhancing the safety and efficiency of global maritime traffic." All eyes are on how Seedronix's innovative technology will transform the future of the global maritime industry.
