Idus, Making the Dreams of Handmade Artists a Reality! 'Star Artist Project' Phase 1, Writes a Myth of Hundred-Million-Won Sales
The first phase of the 'Star Artist Project,' initiated by the handmade commerce platform Idus to support the growth of artists, has successfully concluded. Idus, operated by Backpacker, announced on the 24th that all participating artists in Phase 1 achieved remarkable results, far exceeding their target sales of 10 million won.
The 'Star Artist Project' discovers and supports artists who possess outstanding creativity but have been hindered in their growth by difficulties in branding and marketing. For approximately one month, it provides full-fledged support, including 1:1 close consulting from Idus's professional MDs, profile and artwork photography, 1 million won worth of advertising points, exclusive special exhibitions, and promotion on official SNS channels, thereby transforming the artists' potential into reality.
A total of five artists participated in this first phase, including glass crafters and jewelry designers, and the results were truly astonishing. They recorded an astounding sales growth of approximately 21 times compared to their average over the three months prior to the project. Notably, the dessert and bread patissier 'Breadman' achieved its target sales just 11 days after the project began, and by the end of the project, recorded an astonishing growth of approximately 132 times, surprising many.
Fan support for the artists' remarkable growth was also fervent. Over 2,400 people participated in the cheering event held during the project period, and the number of followers receiving updates from the artists increased by an average of over 1,000, further fueling creative enthusiasm.
Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of Backpacker, stated, "The purpose of the Star Artist Project is to discover artists who quietly continue their creative work with their own unique stories and to provide them with tangible growth opportunities." He added, "Going forward, we will strive to help customers encounter a wider variety of handmade artists and for Idus to build a sustainable creative ecosystem."
Idus, first launched in 2014, has consistently provided professional training for artists since its early service days, including artwork sales operations, photography, online marketing, and customer management. Last year, it also spearheaded the preservation of traditional culture and the revitalization of small business creators through support programs for nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage holders, masters, and small-scale artists, continuously striving to widely promote the value of handmade crafts.
