Ulsan University is partnering with the education platform company Classum to build a next-generation Learning Management System (LMS). This initiative aims to implement innovative, shared, cooperative education among regional universities, aligning with the rapidly changing educational environment. This is one of the core tasks of the Ministry of Education's 'Glocal University 30 Project,' an attempt to open new horizons through the convergence and openness of university education amidst complex changes such as accelerating digital transformation, declining school-age population, and an increase in international students.
Classum's new LMS is designed on a SaaS basis, boasting excellent scalability. It can flexibly operate a wide range of educational programs beyond regular courses, including joint lectures, industry-academia-research cooperation programs, and international student education programs. Notably, students from other universities and working professionals can easily log in and receive multi-language support, significantly lowering the existing high entry barriers to collaborative education. This aims to enhance the quality of regional education and nurture future key talents by sharing comparative advantage courses among schools and providing customized education.
This system goes beyond simple learning management. It fosters active communication between professors and students through an SNS-type community and anonymous functions. An AI assistant enhances learning efficiency by providing real-time answers and sources regarding learning content and operations. Furthermore, it fully supports student-led teaching methods such as flipped learning and problem-based learning, and encourages students to set and achieve their learning goals through a challenge function.
Basic academic management functions such as grades, attendance, and student management are provided with an intuitive interface, and administrative convenience is ensured through linkage with the university's comprehensive academic information system. Optimized for web and mobile environments, it offers a free learning environment anytime, anywhere, and encourages continuous participation with user activity-based notifications.
Kim Seung-jun, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development at Ulsan University, emphasized that this project will be a focal point for regional education innovation. He stated that Ulsan University, together with Classum's LMS, will strengthen its role as a hub university and create a highly satisfying educational environment. Choi Yu-jin, CEO of Classum, also stated that the company's technology and AI capabilities will deliver the educational innovation and rich learning experiences that universities and local communities need. Classum's LMS, already recognized for its excellence and utilized in over 11,000 institutions across 32 countries worldwide, is expected to significantly contribute to the qualitative improvement of regional education and the nurturing of future talents through its cooperation with Ulsan University.
