The short drama platform Vigloo has released its annual viewership data for 2025. Operated by the global content company SpoonLabs, Vigloo's cumulative viewing time in 2025 exceeded a total of 5 million hours. The data collection period ran from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and the core user demographic was women aged 35 and older, who accounted for more than half of all views. In terms of genre, 'romance' showed strong performance. It was reported that all of the top 10 viewed works in major countries such as Korea, Japan, and the USA fell within the romance genre. Looking at preferred keywords by country, Korea and Japan showed interests in high stimulation, aloof men, and youth dramas, while the USA favored keywords like conglomerate, destiny, and pure love. The viewing patterns of domestic users were also analyzed. The total viewing time within Korea exceeded 2 million hours, particularly showing a significant increase in viewing between 11 PM and 1 AM, where the viewing amount was 1.8 times higher than the daily average. On weekends, the number of viewers increased by 15.5% and viewing time by 34% compared to weekdays, indicating a clear tendency for binge-watching during the weekends and late-night hours. The average completion time for top-tier works was recorded at 1 hour and 50 minutes, with an average completion rate of 95%. The most viewed work in Korea last year was 'The Share House We Must Have 2', which garnered approximately 8.1 million views within the first 30 days of its release. Following that were 'Obsessive Marriage' and 'Romantic Island', among others, which ranked highly. Meanwhile, SpoonLabs estimates that the global short drama market size in 2025 will be approximately 7.21 billion dollars (about 10.6 trillion won). Vigloo's revenue in the third quarter last year showed an increase of 250% compared to the first quarter. SpoonLabs CEO Choi Hyuk-jae stated, “We confirmed last year that short dramas are being consumed as binge-watching content, and this year we plan to unveil content with strengthened storytelling.”
