Upbit D Conference 2025 Held, Key Theme: 'Mainstreaming'
'Upbit D Conference 2025 (UDC 2025)', which successfully opened in Seoul, garnered significant attention by presenting a blueprint for the future blockchain ecosystem under the theme of 'Blockchain, at the Center of Industry'. Notably, Dunamu CEO Oh Kyong-seok, who took office last February, made his first official appearance on the UDC 2025 opening stage, captivating attention by announcing a strong vision and strategy for Korea to lead the blockchain revolution. CEO Oh expressed his aspiration that "Korea, which was defensive in the internet and artificial intelligence revolutions, can aggressively pioneer the global market in the trust-based blockchain revolution." He defined the Korean Won stablecoin as "a bridge connecting finance and blockchain, and a core of financial sovereignty," emphasizing the importance of exchanges' distribution capabilities and the spread of blockchain infrastructure for its successful activation. Furthermore, he previewed the unveiling of Dunamu's own blockchain, 'Giwa Chain', and its wallet service, 'Giwa Wallet', and raised expectations by announcing plans to expand core blockchain infrastructure, including the institutional custody service 'Upbit Custody' and the travel rule solution 'Verify VASP'. The participation of global leaders also enriched UDC 2025. Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, and Patrick McHenry, former Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, shared insights into the future of finance, business, digital assets, and changes in the global regulatory environment, respectively. Marco Dal Lago, Vice President of Tether, highlighted the potential of stablecoins by presenting USDT's role in financial inclusion and real-world use cases. In the ensuing discussion, challenges and issues for stablecoins to spread into mainstream finance were discussed in depth. In addition, a variety of presentations covering the present and future of blockchain technology followed, including Upbit's Web3 infrastructure expansion plans, service development strategies reflecting user feedback, and security threats and defense systems in the AI era. Beyond the conference sessions, participatory programs such as NFT exhibitions, digital asset experiences, and corporate booths were successfully held, increasing participant engagement. UDC 2025 was evaluated as having set a new milestone for the industry by presenting concrete ways for blockchain technology to meet mainstream industries and finance.
