Superb AI is attracting attention from the industry by unveiling 'ZERO', an innovative vision foundation model set to open a new era of Vision AI. Led by CEO Kim Hyun-soo, Superb AI's 'ZERO' has achieved world-class performance with only 900,000 data points and a short development period of just eight months, proposing a new paradigm for AI development.
Just as text-based LLMs (Large Language Models) have revolutionized the field of language processing, 'ZERO', as a general-purpose AI model pre-trained with large-scale image data, possesses the potential to completely transform image recognition and analysis. The key is its immediate applicability to various industrial sites—from manufacturing quality inspection to logistics automation and enhanced safety control—without requiring additional training.
Realizing 'zero learning, zero data', 'ZERO' fundamentally breaks down the barriers to AI adoption, just as its name suggests. It enables anyone to easily utilize cutting-edge AI technology through 'Zero Learning', which allows immediate use without prior preparation; 'Zero Complexity', which requires no complicated setup process; 'Zero Waiting', which provides instant results; and 'Zero Limits', which maintains consistent performance across diverse environments.
CTO Cha Mun-soo cited three core technologies driving 'ZERO''s innovation: ▲ 'Zero-shot inference' which instantly recognizes new, previously untrained environments or objects; ▲ 'Multimodal prompt-based usage' which performs desired tasks solely through text commands or example image inputs; and ▲ 'Multitask capability' which processes complex vision tasks such as object detection, classification, and segmentation simultaneously with a single model. This makes it a powerful tool for solving complex industrial site problems with just one model.
'ZERO' has proven world-class performance in the 'Visual-I AP' category of LVIS, Meta's global standard benchmark. It also recorded overwhelming results against top global models in both text and example image command-based detection metrics across 37 self-built industrial benchmarks. While competing models utilize vast datasets ranging from tens of millions to 100 million, 'ZERO' demonstrated remarkable efficiency, surpassing them with just 900,000 data points, earning recognition for simultaneously enhancing AI development accessibility and productivity.
CBO Kim Jin-hoe emphasized that 'ZERO' will become a new business engine applicable to all industries, going beyond a mere technological product. CEO Kim Hyun-soo presented a grand vision, stating, "Through ZERO, we will usher in an era where companies can utilize cutting-edge AI technology without needing a separate AI team or large-scale infrastructure investment," adding that it will be a turning point for expanding Korea's industrial competitiveness as a manufacturing powerhouse through AI and securing global technological leadership. Established in 2018, Superb AI is a leading domestic Vision AI specialist, having attracted 49 billion won in investment while providing Vision AI solutions to over 100 companies, including Samsung, LG, and Qualcomm.
