The 2024 activity data released by 'Ttokbi', an AI-based personal assistant service for the 5060 generation, is drawing attention by revealing unexpected lifestyles of the senior generation. Particularly, interesting results that break existing stereotypes emerged in travel preferences.
'Ttokbi', operated by 'Rabbit and Toad', allows the 5060 generation to make requests via chat as if talking to their children. AI and counselors who are actual secretarial studies graduates then handle all processes from search to reservation and payment on their behalf. This effectively serves as an essential bridge for seniors who are not digitally savvy.
According to 21,212 request data analyzed after the introduction of the membership system, seniors' biggest interest was 'restaurants & cafes' information, accounting for 21% of all requests. The keen interest in gastronomy proved to be unwavering, regardless of age.
In the second most requested category, travel (15%), even more unique results were derived. The ranking of popular domestic and international travel destinations appeared in the order of Busan, Osaka, Jeju, Seoul, and Fukuoka. While Jeju Island is typically expected to be the number one domestic travel destination, Busan actually garnered higher popularity among seniors. Among all travel destinations, Korean cities accounted for the largest share at 54%, followed by Japan at 30% and Vietnam at 16%, clearly indicating a preference for nearby Asian regions, especially those with good accessibility, rather than distant locations.
CEO Ham Dong-soo stated, "Based on the senior generation data held by Ttokbi, we will listen more closely to the voices of our members and create services that provide practical help." In an aging society, 'Ttokbi's data serves as an important window for understanding the true needs of the 5060 generation, demonstrating the value of technology in bridging the digital divide and providing practical convenience to a generation prone to marginalization.
