**SemiFive Surpasses 100 Billion Won in Sales Within 5 Years of Founding, Emerging as a Leader in the Customized AI Semiconductor Market**
SemiFive, which has set an innovative milestone in the domestic semiconductor design industry, demonstrated rapid growth by surpassing 100 billion won in consolidated sales within five years of its establishment. As a company specializing in customized semiconductor design, SemiFive recorded sales of 111.8 billion won in 2024, achieving a remarkable growth of approximately 57% year-over-year. Its order backlog also reached 123.8 billion won, securing robust future growth momentum. This is evaluated as a clear example demonstrating the new growth potential of domestic semiconductor design companies.
Founded in 2019 by CEO Cho Myung-hyun, a semiconductor design expert from Seoul National University's Department of Electrical Engineering and MIT, SemiFive garnered attention from the industry from its early days. By recruiting Park Sung-ho, former Vice President of Samsung Electronics' System LSI Division, as co-CEO, and securing numerous experts with over 20 years of experience from leading domestic and international companies, along with master's and Ph.D.-level engineers, the company solidified its strong technological foundation. It attracted large-scale investments totaling 240 billion won from various entities, including Pavilion Capital, a subsidiary of Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Korea Investment Partners, and Korea Development Bank, thereby gaining recognition for its growth potential.
SemiFive's core competitiveness lies in its independently developed design platform. This platform has achieved technological innovation by dramatically reducing semiconductor development costs and time by more than half through IP (intellectual property) reuse and automation solutions. Especially at a time when the demand for AI semiconductors is exploding, and global big tech companies like Google and Meta are focusing on in-house chip development, SemiFive's low-cost, low-risk design solutions are attracting widespread interest and partnerships from both domestic and international customers.
Currently, numerous major domestic and international semiconductor companies are accelerating the development of specialized semiconductors based on SemiFive's platform, with some projects having already successfully completed mass production or are on the verge of commencing it. In particular, through close collaboration with domestic AI semiconductor fabless companies such as FuriosaAI, Rebellions, HyperXel, Mobilint, and AEXINA, SemiFive is solidifying its leading role in the customized AI semiconductor market. To date, it has developed three core SoC platforms for AI Inference, AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), and HPC (High-Performance Computing), and has successfully executed over 10 Big Die semiconductor project tape-outs, demonstrating its technological prowess.
Strategic moves to strengthen technological capabilities are also underway. In 2022, SemiFive acquired Analog Bits, a global leader in low-power mixed-signal IP. Established in 1995, Analog Bits is a true IP powerhouse, supplying core IP to major foundries such as TSMC, Samsung Foundry, and Intel, possessing over 75 process technologies and 1,000 products, and securing more than 400 global customers.
Recently, to meet the rapidly changing demands of the AI semiconductor market, SemiFive has been focusing on developing 'Premier,' a high-performance CPU chiplet platform based on ARM architecture. This platform integrates cutting-edge IPs such as Synopsys' UCIe high-speed interface and Open-Edge Technology's LPDDR6 memory interface, and utilizes Samsung Foundry's innovative 4-nanometer process (SF4X), preparing to lead the next-generation semiconductor market.
SemiFive CEO Cho Myung-hyun stated, "Surpassing 100 billion won in sales in just five years since our founding is an extremely unusual and significant achievement," emphasizing that "the customized semiconductor (ASIC) market will establish itself as a core axis in the rapidly growing AI semiconductor ecosystem." He also expressed his ambition, saying, "Under our founding vision of being 'a new global hub for customized semiconductors,' we will strengthen our category leadership as a frontrunner in low-cost, high-efficiency design platforms and actively target the global market." SemiFive is expected to further elevate the status of 'K-Semiconductors' in the global semiconductor market through its unrivaled technological capabilities and strategic initiatives.
