Global content company RIDI has launched a new strategy in the Japanese market. Amidst the short-form content craze, RIDI officially launched the Korean-style short-drama platform 'Kanta' in Japan, signaling the expansion of K-content's influence.
'Kanta' is a global service that allows users to enjoy the deep emotions and fun of K-dramas in a condensed format. It aims to precisely target the tastes of Japanese viewers familiar with K-content, presenting immersive, high-quality video content. Kanta, which will release new K-drama series every month, will debut its first lineup in August with the delightfully imaginative 'Manager Jung with the Electronic Brain,' starring comedian and actor Jung Joon-ha and ATEEZ's Yunho.
RIDI has already established a strong foothold in the Japanese market, having been selected last year as the first Korean company for the Tokyo Stock Exchange's 'TSE Asia Startup Hub.' This launch of 'Kanta' is part of RIDI's core strategy to expand its accumulated IP and operational know-how from web novels and webtoons into the video content sector, and is expected to further strengthen its competitiveness within Japan.
Bae Ki-sik, CEO of RIDI, expressed his ambition, stating, "RIDI, which has continuously evolved content formats in step with the times, will now lead a new wave of K-content in the short-drama sector." 'Kanta' is now available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store in Japan.
