The Pinkfong Company's global hit song 'Pinkfong Baby Shark' has made new history in the UK music market. It achieved a remarkable feat by receiving 5X Platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), surpassing 3 million cumulative units sold (including downloads and streaming equivalents). This is the first record ever for K-pop and global kids' songs combined, once again proving 'Baby Shark's' unique status.
'Baby Shark' previously amazed the world by entering the U.S. Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100' at #32 in January 2019 and remaining there for 20 consecutive weeks. In 2020, it simultaneously earned Diamond and 11 multi-platinum digital single certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), setting a new record for Korean content and kids' songs.
In the UK, it has consistently maintained its popularity. In 2020, it received Double Platinum (over 1.2 million units) from the BPI; in 2022, it surpassed 200 million streams according to the UK Official Charts; in 2023, it exceeded 1 billion cumulative streams on Spotify and achieved 4.3 million monthly listeners. In 2024, it demonstrated its power by earning Gold certification from the French National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP) and ranking #1 as the most streamed music video in the UK.
To commemorate its 10th anniversary this year, The Pinkfong Company plans to release a limited edition liquid vinyl 'Baby Shark 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Album' and unveil a music video in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra in the third quarter. A representative from The Pinkfong Company stated that this achievement once again proves 'Baby Shark's' global influence, and expressed their ambition to continue delivering diverse content experiences that span generations.
