Opening of Korea's First AI Crowd Management Baseball Stadium

The spectator experience at domestic professional sports stadiums has evolved a step further with artificial intelligence technology. Superb AI, in collaboration with KT, successfully established Korea's first AI-based crowd congestion analysis system at Suwon KT Wiz Park, significantly enhancing the safety and convenience of spectators. This is a key achievement of KT's new AI brand strategy, the ‘AI Stadium’ project, setting a precedent for the innovative application of vision AI technology in the sports entertainment sector. The newly introduced AI system precisely analyzes real-time video feeds from over 50 CCTV cameras within Wiz Park, accurately identifying crowd density in each section. The analyzed congestion information is provided as intuitive visual data on the stadium's electronic display boards and the manager's dashboard, showing the situation in each section at a glance with green (sparse), yellow (moderate), and red (congested). Thanks to this, spectators can use the 'KT & Superb AI Real-time AI Analysis' congestion information displayed on the electronic boards to navigate away from crowded areas, allowing them to enjoy the game more comfortably and safely. Superb AI focused on developing an AI model optimized for the unique environment of a baseball stadium. In particular, they actively utilized 'Edge AI' technology to implement a system where data analysis occurs immediately on-site. This solved potential data transmission delays associated with cloud-based solutions and enhanced security. Furthermore, by meticulously setting the Region of Interest (ROI) for each camera and precisely adjusting congestion standards for each section, they maximized the system's accuracy and practicality. The development of an intuitive User Interface (UI/UX) for spectators and a web-based dashboard allowing stadium managers to grasp congestion situations at a glance also demonstrates a user-centric approach. Building on the experience of this KT Wiz Park implementation, Superb AI plans to expand the application of this system with KT not only to other sports stadiums but also to various large-scale facilities such as major concert halls and exhibition centers.
