Autonomous driving robot company Newbility has partnered with Hyundaibendys, a leader in the mobile meal voucher market, to officially launch an innovative autonomous delivery service at LG Display's Paju site. This marks a significant turning point as Newbility successfully expands its service area beyond urban delivery to industrial sites, actively leading the commercialization of autonomous driving technology. This service is closely integrated with Hyundaibendys' mobile meal voucher app, 'Sikkwon Daejang'. LG Display employees can easily order beverages through the app and enjoy the convenience of having Newbility's advanced autonomous delivery robot, 'Newbie,' deliver them directly to the entrance of their office building. In particular, Sikkwon Daejang's consolidated delivery feature maximizes operational efficiency by efficiently handling multiple orders at once. Newbie, moving swiftly at up to 7.2 km/h, features eye-shaped LED displays on its front, giving it a friendly and futuristic impression. What's more remarkable is that it precisely recognizes its surroundings using only cameras, without lidar, and integrates Newbility's proprietary advanced technologies such as multi-camera based V-SLAM supporting real-time localization and mapping, sensor fusion, and AI object recognition, enabling stable, error-free autonomous driving even in complex environments. Newbility has already demonstrated its technological prowess and stability by operating successful urban delivery services in areas such as Incheon Songdo, Pangyo, and Gangnam, accumulating over 10,000 deliveries as of 2024. Hyundaibendys stated that as a result of operating a pilot robot coffee delivery service at LG Display Paju last April, they confirmed a significant improvement in employee satisfaction and work efficiency. Based on this positive evaluation, they decided to officially introduce the service, and through their contract with Newbility, which possesses both robot manufacturing and operational capabilities, they expect stable and efficient operation. They plan to expand the service to include various F&B menus such as hamburgers and sandwiches in the future. Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newbility, stated, "Driving experience in diverse environments is an essential factor in making autonomous driving robots smarter," and expressed his ambition to leverage the partnership with Hyundaibendys as a stepping stone to expand Newbie's activity into various spaces such as hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. This collaboration is expected to serve as an opportunity for autonomous driving robots to penetrate deeper into daily life and industrial sites.
