Naver Unveils Next-Gen HyperCLOVA X: 2x Performance, Half the Cost

## Naver HyperCLOVA X Opens New AI Horizon by Simultaneously Achieving Efficiency and Performance On the 20th, Naver set a new milestone in artificial intelligence technology by internally unveiling HyperCLOVA X's innovative new foundation model. This model showcases the 'aesthetics of efficiency' by delivering powerful performance with fewer resources, demonstrating its potential to change the landscape of future AI services. The most significant feature of this new model is its outstanding economic efficiency. It achieves much more powerful performance with parameters at only 40% the level of existing models, and operating costs have also been dramatically reduced by over 50%. This efficient design is expected to become Naver's core driving force in leading the popularization of AI. In terms of performance, it overwhelmingly surpassed existing models in 19 benchmark tests, including Korean, English, coding, and mathematics. Notably, it achieved a high accuracy rate of 79.6% in the globally authoritative MMLU test, proving its language understanding capabilities on par with similarly sized AI models from major tech companies worldwide. Even more advanced multi-modality capabilities are another highlight of this model. Its existing text and image processing abilities have been improved to a global top-tier level, and the new addition of video understanding functionality has brought innovation to how AI perceives and interprets information. Specifically, its visual Q&A and complex chart/diagram understanding capabilities have been elevated to a level comparable to the world's leading models, demonstrating outstanding ability in accurately grasping information presented in various forms. Based on this new model, Naver plans to further accelerate its 'On-Service AI' strategy. It will revolutionize user experience by comprehensively expanding the application of generative AI technology to major services used by tens of millions of users, such as search and commerce. Furthermore, it will focus on enhancing AI's planning and reasoning capabilities to provide more systematic and personalized user request processing. Since its initial public release in August last year, Naver has consistently demonstrated its technological prowess by introducing lightweight and multimodal models like 'HyperCLOVA X Dash' and 'HyperCLOVA X Vision'. Seong Nak-ho, head of Naver Cloud, emphasized, "In an era where operating high-performance AI at low cost has become crucial, we have continuously researched to stably integrate AI into services used by tens of millions of people daily." He added, "The new HyperCLOVA X will be a powerful engine providing differentiated AI service experiences." This innovative model will be integrated into the conversational AI service CLOVA X in March and will later be available through 'CLOVA Studio' for enterprise customers. Furthermore, a HyperCLOVA X model capable of more natural voice conversation is expected to be unveiled in the second half of the year.
