An innovative journey seeking a sustainable future for the agri-food industry, the ‘2025 Agri-food Tech Startup Accelerator Support (EMA-AGRIFOOD)’ Demo Day, hosted by MY Social Company (MYSC), successfully concluded.
Held on May 28th at Episode Sinchon Campus, this event proceeded under the active sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, with B-Lab Korea participating in co-operation and SK D&D providing space support, thereby strengthening the agri-food innovation ecosystem.
Under the theme of 'Impact on the Table,' this Demo Day presented deep insights connecting the agri-food industry beyond mere production and distribution to the fundamental issues of humanity's 'food' and 'survival.' Participating startups emphasized their differentiation by showcasing pitches that focused not merely on business performance, but on their understanding of the social and environmental problems they aimed to solve, the innovativeness of their solutions, and their impact expansion strategies.
Among a total of 13 promising startups, Signal Care, which develops global green bio agricultural industry materials, received the prestigious Grand Award. The Excellence Award went to Fresheous, for its solution to extend agricultural product shelf life, and the Changemaker Award was given to Earthform, which develops eco-friendly packaging materials using mushroom mycelium and agricultural by-products. Additionally, Stockkeeper, operating the Hanwoo fractional investment platform 'BankCow,' received the Rising Impact Award, demonstrating the diverse innovation potential of the agri-food industry.
In addition to the startup pitches, a lecture by Professor Lee Ki-won of Seoul National University on 'Impact Insights in the Agri-food Industry' and a case presentation by CEO Min Myung-joon of Re:Harvest on 'The Growth Journey of Agri-food Impact Startups' followed, providing participants with deep inspiration and networking opportunities.
Ha Nuri, Deputy Team Leader at MYSC, stated, "In an era of climate crisis and industrial transformation, agri-food startups are positioning themselves as key players in solving social problems, beyond mere tech entrepreneurship," and added, "Through this event, we aimed to deliver a powerful message about future sustainability that must be incorporated into the changes on our dining tables."
Through the 'EMA-AGRIFOOD' program, MYSC has discovered and nurtured over 40 agri-food startups since 2022, achieving tangible results such as job creation, investment attraction, and overseas market validation. Based on the keywords 'Blended·Impact·Global (B.I.G),' MYSC, which has supported innovative startups aiming to solve social and environmental problems in the agri-food sector and expand into global markets, plans to continue leading the creation of an agri-food innovation ecosystem to spread 'Impact on the Table.'
