In Japan's largest IT exhibition, ‘Japan IT Week’, Korean AI technology company Muhayu garnered significant attention by unveiling the Japanese version of its innovative generative AI detection solution, ‘GPT Killer’. Muhayu, participating for the second consecutive year, showcased its latest AI technology at the event held from the 23rd to the 25th at Tokyo Big Sight. Approximately 1,000 companies are participating in this event, which introduces the latest technologies and services across the IT industry, including AI, IoT, cloud, and big data, making it a great success. The newly unveiled Japanese version of ‘GPT Killer’ is based on high-performance Japanese natural language processing technology, detecting texts written by generative AI with a high accuracy of 99%. This solution operates by meticulously analyzing documents paragraph by paragraph, then precisely determining the probability of each section being written by generative AI. Muhayu explained that it achieves high detection accuracy through a unique method that traces back the probability of tokens (words) likely used by generative AI. Along with ‘GPT Killer’, Muhayu also introduced ‘CopyMonitor’, an AI plagiarism detection service successfully established in the Japanese market since 2020. ‘CopyMonitor’, currently boasting over 220,000 users across 80 client companies in Japan, has gained high trust from local educational institutions and businesses due to its optimized AI technology that considers the linguistic characteristics and academic environment of Japanese. Its strength lies in precisely detecting not only documents that have simply copied material verbatim but also parts where expressions have been omitted or patched together, accurately identifying plagiarism. Its reliability is so recognized that one Japanese university mandates ‘CopyMonitor’ checks when students submit their report assignments. Beyond Japan, Muhayu is continuously expanding its global influence. In 2023, it entered the Chinese market, operating ‘CopyKiller China’ and providing plagiarism detection services for Chinese and English theses, thereby solidifying its international standing. Shin Dong-ho, CEO of Muhayu, emphasized, “The Japanese market, similar to the domestic market, has a high sensitivity towards academic integrity and copyright protection, leading to very strong demand for AI detection solutions.” He further expressed his ambition to “accelerate our attack on the global market even further through localized custom solutions.”
