K-agriculture robot startup Metaparmers has achieved a golden feat on the global stage. It proved its innovativeness by winning the gold award in the Food & Agricultural Technology category at the '2025 Edison Awards,' named after the icon of invention, Thomas Edison. This prestigious awards ceremony selects innovative technologies and products from various industries each year, drawing global attention.
Metaparmers' AI-based autonomous agricultural robot technology, highlighted as a game-changer to solve the chronic labor shortage in rural areas, received high praise from the judges. In particular, its versatility, which allows it to adapt immediately to various agricultural environments without being confined to specific crops or tasks, unlike existing robots, is a major strength.
The most innovative aspect of Metaparmers' agricultural robots is that users can directly 'teach' the robots tasks, communicate with them in real-time, and train them to perform precise agricultural work at the level of skilled workers in a short period. Thanks to this unique learning method, the robots quickly integrate into any agricultural environment and achieve maximum efficiency.
CEO Lee Gyu-hwa described this award as a "decisive turning point where our technological vision and execution capabilities were recognized globally," and expressed a strong ambition to leap forward as a leader in the global agricultural market. His pledge, "Building on this achievement, we will grow faster, take on bigger challenges, and rewrite the future of global agriculture," clearly demonstrates Metaparmers' vision.
Since its establishment in September 2022 by founders from Seoul National University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, Metaparmers has rapidly proven its technological prowess. Starting with winning the Grand Prize at the Seoul National University SNAAC Demoday in 2022, followed by selection for agricultural food accelerating and technology transfer in 2023, selection for TIPS and winning the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award in 2024, and the CES Innovation Award in 2025, culminating in this Edison Awards gold medal, the company has swept numerous prestigious awards both domestically and internationally, illuminating the future of K-agriculture robots.
