## Lloyd K Declares Pioneering of 'High-Efficiency LLM' Era in Partnership with MIT
Lloyd K has embarked on a joint research project with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the U.S., stepping up for next-generation large language model (LLM) technology innovation. This collaboration aims to develop core technologies for high-performance, low-resource deployment of LLMs. Its significance has been recognized, as it was selected as one of the top three nationwide projects in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2025 Global Collaboration R&D Support Program.'
Both organizations plan to focus on building a 'high-efficiency LLM inference stack' by utilizing 4-bit quantization and LQ-LoRA-based lightweight fine-tuning technology. This is expected to significantly reduce the costs and resource consumption essential for operating AI models, thereby playing a decisive role in lowering the barriers to AI adoption across industries and accelerating its widespread use. The reduction in power consumption is also anticipated to contribute to energy cost savings in the AI industry and strengthen ESG management, paving the way for sustainable growth.
This research will be led by MIT Professor Yoon Kim's Lab (MIT Kim Lab), a world-renowned expert in quantization algorithms, as the overseas lead institution for fundamental technology development. The lab has played a leading role in this field by publishing efficiency papers such as FLUTE and LQ-LoRA. Domestically, Lloyd K will take overall charge, planning to generate practical value by immediately integrating the research outcomes into its commercial AI platforms like 'DO Solution' and 'Global-RAG Suite' and commercializing them.
The research results will also be linked with future international performance benchmarks (MLPerf) and ISO/IEC standardization, aiming to secure the technology's global competitiveness and impact.
Kim Dae-hoon, CEO of Lloyd K, emphasized, "This joint research with MIT combines Lloyd K's extensive industrial application experience with MIT's unique fundamental technology, presenting a new model where research outcomes directly lead to industrial innovation." He added, "This collaboration will be a significant turning point that changes the landscape of AI utilization not only domestically but also in the global market."
