Law&Company-Upstage Consortium Joins 'National Champion AI'

Law&Company Selected for National Representative K-AI Elite Team…Leading AI Ecosystem Expansion with Legal Tech Capabilities Law&Company, a comprehensive legal tech company, has been selected as a member of the Upstage consortium in the Ministry of Science and ICT's core project, the 'Independent AI Foundation Model' initiative. As a result, Law&Company has become the only legal tech company among the five elite teams selected through fierce competition, and will play a pivotal role in expanding the domestic AI ecosystem. In this project, which aims to build sovereign AI with global competitiveness, the Upstage consortium, in which Law&Company participates, received high praise for presenting a concrete plan to foster an AI innovation ecosystem in key industrial sectors such as law, manufacturing, and national defense, through the development of 'Solar WBL (World Best Large Language Model)'. Law&Company plans to make a critical contribution to the development of industry-specific solutions and their global expansion, based on its AI technology validation in the legal domain and accumulated experience in legal-specific AI services, during the model dissemination phase for building a global standard AI ecosystem. This also aligns with the goal of producing social value through AI technology. Law&Company, which has been dedicated to technology development since establishing its legal AI research institute in 2019, has already proven its capabilities by launching 'Superlawyer', a commercial legal AI service in Korea, last year. Superlawyer set a record by being the first non-English speaking AI service to significantly exceed the passing score in all multiple-choice sections of the Korean bar examination, and has been recognized for its global technological prowess, including being acknowledged as an innovative case by global AI companies Anthropic and Microsoft. Furthermore, Law&Company has maintained a close technical cooperation relationship with Upstage, including signing a business agreement for the joint development of 'Solar-Legal', a legal-specific LLM foundation model, and forming a consortium in projects organized by NIPA.
