Laundrigo Launches Robotic Collated Packaging System for Dry Cleaning & Laundry
Mobile laundry service Laundrygo has set a new milestone in the laundry industry by solving the challenge of simultaneously packing dry cleaning and regular laundry with robots. Euisikju Company, Laundrygo's operating company, developed an autonomous robot system called 'LAPS (Laundrygo Autonomous Packing System)', successfully completed a 10-month pilot operation at its Gunpo Smart Factory, and has now entered commercialization. This marks an innovative expansion of laundry infrastructure in four years, following the customer-specific automatic clothing dispatch system introduced in 2021. In the existing laundry process, dry-cleaned garments are individually processed on hangers, while bulky laundry or bedding is difficult to use hangers for, meaning the process of combining and packing these two types has relied entirely on manual labor. This resulted in chronic problems of high process difficulty and reduced productivity. The LAPS system automates this entire combined packing process, significantly simplifying the dispatch process, and achieving remarkable results, improving productivity by approximately twofold. The importance of this automation is further highlighted by the changing trends among laundry service users. This is due to a sharp increase in demand for outsourcing household laundry, driven by the rise in single-person households and changing lifestyles, leading to a rapid increase in mobile laundry service usage. Laundrygo's laundry orders have grown 30-fold over the past five years, reaching a cumulative 3 million orders, and particularly as 40% of all customers use both dry cleaning and regular laundry simultaneously, combined packing automation was an essential task. Kim Da-ye, Head of Laundrygo's P&C Division, stated, "The commercialization of the LAPS system has simplified the dispatch process and significantly improved productivity," and expressed her ambition to "grow into a global comprehensive laundry tech company through continuous technological innovation." Currently, Laundrygo provides services in major cities nationwide, including Seoul/Gyeonggi Metropolitan Area, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Sejong, and continues to maintain a robust growth rate of over 20% annually, having achieved a cumulative 1 million member households, 4.5 million orders, and 30 million garments laundered as of September 2025.
