Ahead of the upcoming 2025 presidential election, the Korea Startup Forum (KOSPO), representing South Korea's startup ecosystem, has taken an ambitious step to present new engines for national growth. It has officially launched a policy task force (TF) activity to establish startup-centric policies and connect them to the next government's national agenda. This TF has been formed with Jung Ji-eun, CEO of Kodit, and Lee Hyun-jae, CEO of YesFuture, who are co-chairs of KOSPO's external policy division, at its core. KOSPO's board of directors, key member companies, and experts from various fields will join to integrate vivid voices from the field into policy. In particular, Kodit will play a crucial role in deriving policy proposals aligned with global trends using its own AI platform and delivering them to various political parties and candidate camps. The TF's core vision is 'Scale-up Korea'. It has also clearly presented three key tasks to achieve this. First, diversifying South Korea's business models through nurturing new industries. Second, the ambition to further strengthen the nation's future competitiveness through public innovation and an all-encompassing digital transformation (DX). Lastly, it plans to pursue 'Regulatory Reform 2.0' to create a free and fair competitive environment and establish a new order. Han Sang-woo, Chairman of KOSPO, emphasized, "Through this TF activity, we will strive to ensure that startups firmly establish themselves as key players in national competitiveness," and expressed a strong will to "lead Korea to leap forward again as a great country for startups" through close communication with the government, academia, and experts. KOSPO, the largest startup association in South Korea, has previous experience in successfully reflecting policy proposals into national agendas through policy proposals and forum organization during past presidential elections. Currently, it boasts over 2,500 member companies in various new industry sectors such as AI, deep tech, and mobility, and these companies collectively generate an annual revenue of approximately 20 trillion won, employ 50,000 people, and have attracted cumulative investments totaling 33 trillion won, demonstrating overwhelming scale. Based on this strength, KOSPO will play a leading role in promoting the substantial growth and regulatory improvement for startups in the 2025 presidential election as well.
