Zigzag, a style commerce platform operated by Kakao Style, has unveiled its remarkable growth trajectory to mark the 10th anniversary of its app launch. Launched in June 2015 by integrating over 1,000 Dongdaemun-based fashion shopping malls, Zigzag has now established itself as a comprehensive style commerce platform encompassing some 24,000 shopping malls and fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands. The number of products handled has expanded to approximately 9 million, an increase of over 30 times compared to its initial launch. As of May this year, its cumulative user base surpassed 10 million, and it attracted 1 million new subscribers in the last six months, demonstrating continuous growth. Notably, the total daily usage time recorded a 20-fold increase to 200,000 hours, showcasing high user engagement.
The core driver of this success lies in Zigzag's innovative technology. In 2017, it became the first fashion platform to introduce AI and big data-based personalized recommendation ads, effectively connecting products tailored to customer preferences. This led to a 236% increase in the number of stores running ads and a 324% increase in ad spend. The integrated payment system 'Z-Payment', launched in 2019, revolutionized the shopping experience by offering the convenience of paying for items from multiple shopping malls at once, and the average monthly number of payers surged by more than 10 times compared to immediately after its introduction. As a result, Zigzag's transaction volume grew from 10 billion KRW in 2015 to approximately 2 trillion KRW in 2024, achieving a phenomenal 200-fold growth in just 10 years.
Furthermore, the 'Jikjin Delivery' service, introduced in 2021, strengthened the platform's competitiveness with its fast delivery, allowing customers to receive products on the same day or the next day of order. As of May this year, this service has surpassed 30 million cumulative orders and has seen explosive growth, including a 1377% increase in the number of partner stores and a 2032% rise in transaction volume over the past year. Indeed, 'GOGOSING''s slacks generated sales of 6.43 billion KRW as a single product, and 'NISSOM''s bootcut denim sold approximately 170,000 units via Jikjin Delivery, setting a new sales record.
