[Jeon Hwa-sung's Startup Morning Coffee Ep. 1191] The Festering Problem, Solved with Language: A Reframing Strategy
'Startup Morning Coffee', hosted by CEO Jeon Hwa-sung, is broadcast live daily at 8:40 AM on the 'Jeon Hwa-sung's CNTV' channel. It is receiving significant attention as an information platform that deeply introduces the core competencies and market potential of promising startups and communicates with viewers in real-time. Fester, one of the companies recently introduced through this program, is an innovative startup researching and developing domestic silicon carbide (SiC)-based smart grid solutions. Fester's mission is to localize and enhance the efficiency of power semiconductor modules, which are core components in electric vehicle (EV) chargers and energy storage systems (ESS). Currently, it aims to make a decisive contribution to the self-reliance of domestic power semiconductor technology by breaking away from the nearly 100% reliance on Chinese-made power modules and supplying high-quality products that meet Korea's strengthened EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) standards. Fester is currently accelerating its growth by participating in CNT Tech's Seoul 50 Plus Foundation support project. Fester's unique core technology is its SiC power module, which enables high efficiency, miniaturization, and high-speed charging. This module improves cooling efficiency by 300% compared to existing silicon-based modules and dramatically reduces heat generation, maximizing the stability and efficiency of charging systems. Notably, Fester successfully obtained the first official EMC Class B certification in Korea based on its full-bridge Korea SiC power module technology and integrated an EMC filter. This is a remarkable achievement that fundamentally resolves the persistent electromagnetic noise problem in the Korean market, proving its value as the most crucial component determining the performance and stability of fast and slow chargers. Fester plans to lead the market by developing smart chargers equipped with automatic fire detection capabilities based on this module in the future and by implementing a 'materials, parts, and equipment' (SoBuJang) corporate strategy, supplying these as components to charger manufacturers. CEO Jeon Hwa-sung highly praised Fester as a "technology-intensive startup that has successfully achieved the localization of SiC power semiconductor modules, which are central to the smart grid market." He emphasized, "Its overwhelming cooling efficiency and satisfaction of Korea's highest electromagnetic compatibility standards will play a decisive role in reducing import dependency and enhancing the stability of the domestic EV infrastructure," adding, "It is expected to emerge as a leading core component supplier in the rapidly growing EV charger market." Fester is drawing attention as it is expected to play a crucial role in South Korea's energy technology self-reliance and future mobility infrastructure.
