Gyeonggi, Incheon, Jeju Fire Departments Adopt WiComet BabyPod20
Medical startup Wicomet is taking the lead in establishing a nationwide safety net with 'BabyPod20,' an innovative transport solution for infants, our most precious lives. Recently, Wicomet signed a contract to supply 43 BabyPod20 units to the Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Jeju Fire Departments, laying the groundwork to further enhance the safety of infant transport, extending beyond the Sejong, Chungbuk, and Gyeongnam regions where the equipment has already been introduced. This is also expected to significantly contribute to improving the field response capabilities of paramedics. BabyPod20 is crafted from high-strength carbon fiber, making it remarkably light yet robust. Its compact design, with a width of just 1 meter, allows for seamless use in space-constrained environments such as ambulances or helicopters. A critical feature is its ability to enable X-ray or CT scans in urgent situations without needing to move the infant from the equipment, helping medical staff diagnose and treat quickly. This plays a crucial role in saving precious time and increasing infant survival rates. This equipment integrates delicate technology prioritizing the infant's safety. It includes a stretcher fastening belt that can withstand up to 900kg of load, a positioning belt that minimizes infant movement, special foam that absorbs external impact, and a warm gel mattress to help maintain body temperature. All these elements effectively reduce head, foot, and lateral shaking of the infant, ensuring the safest and most stable transport in any emergency situation. The excellence of BabyPod20 has already gained global recognition. It has proven its performance and reliability by serving as core emergency transport equipment in demanding environments, such as the air transport service of a UK children's hospital, the German ADAC Air Rescue, and disaster relief operations of the Brazilian Air Force and Navy. Lee Jeong-hoon, CEO of Wicomet, emphasized, "BabyPod20 is equipment optimized for maternity and infant transport services, specializing in minimizing damage that may occur during transport." He added that the company will continue to do its best to establish an even safer transport environment for newborns and infants through active cooperation with fire departments and emergency medical institutions. Beyond equipment supply, Wicomet is also fulfilling its social responsibility in the field of safety education. It operates training programs for companies and public institutions using Innosonian's CPR mannequin 'Brayden' and self-directed training programs through 'Brayden Online,' providing vital life-saving safety education to approximately 25,000 people to date.
