Gyeongbuk has taken a significant step towards a grand transformation for the era of artificial intelligence. On the 11th, the Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (Gyeongbuk CCEI) officially launched the 'Gyeongbuk AX Committee' in alignment with the government's Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) policy, beginning to redraw the region's future industrial map. AX signifies an innovative process that goes beyond simple digital transformation, deeply applying AI across industry and society.
Over 10 experts from academia, research institutions, corporations, and startups attended the launching ceremony that day, pledging a strong commitment to establishing strategies for AX transformation dissemination, discovering and nurturing promising AX startups, and proposing practical policies and institutional improvements.
The committee's composition focused on consolidating Gyeongbuk's AI capabilities. From academia, key figures such as Professor Hwang Hyeong-joo from POSTECH, Professor Kim Seong-young from Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and Cho Yong-joon, Director of the Agricultural Robot Automation Research Center, are positioned to add theoretical depth. In the industrial sector, Park Soo-young, Head of the Gyeongbuk Digital Innovation Headquarters, Oh Taek-soo, Director of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and Han Byeong-yong, Leader at POSCO, will bring vivid field experience. Additionally, innovative startup leaders such as Kwak In-beom, CEO of Polaris 3D, Park Tae-yoon, CEO of PicanSoft, Bae Sang-yoon, CEO of Lissorius, and Kim Sam-jeong, CEO of Ideas to Silicon, are participating to contribute to the discovery of future growth engines.
Yoo Ju-hyeon, CEO of the Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, emphasized that "the Gyeongbuk AX Committee is a core expert consultative body that will lead the region's artificial intelligence transformation," and stated, "We will actively support startups and local companies to achieve mutual growth, and focus on proposing effective policies that reflect the voices from the field."
The Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation revealed its ambition to build a strong AI and AX ecosystem centered around this committee, enabling local industries and startups to make a leap forward together, thereby making Gyeongbuk a leading region in the era of artificial intelligence.
