A New Chapter in the Global AI Market: Four Korean AI Startups, Supported by the MSS, Achieve Simultaneous Selection for CB Insights' 'AI 100 2025'! Four Korean AI startups, supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), were simultaneously selected for the prestigious 'AI 100 2025' announced by global business analytics platform CB Insights, drawing the attention of the entire world. This marks a record high, significantly surpassing the previous selection scale of around one company per year, and demonstrates the remarkable growth of Korea's AI technology. 'AI 100' is a prestigious index that comprehensively evaluates the business performance, technological capabilities, and investment status of private AI companies worldwide to select the 100 companies poised to lead the future AI market. The four companies named on this list—Nota AI, DynoTisia, Upstage, and Twelve Labs—were recognized for their unique technological prowess and potential. **Innovative Technologies of the 4 Selected Companies:** * **Nota AI:** With support from the 'Tech Incubator Program for Startup (TIPS)' and the 'Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project,' it leads the accelerated computing edge sector through network lightweighting technology for on-device AI development. * **DynoTisia:** Selected for the 'Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project,' it developed the hardware-accelerated vector database system 'Seahorse,' leading innovation in vector data-based solutions. * **Upstage:** With support from the 'Startup Jump-up Package' program, it developed a function-calling model based on Large Language Models (LLM), becoming the first Korean AI Foundation Model to earn the honor of being selected for 'AI 100'. * **Twelve Labs:** With support from the 'Pre-startup Package' and 'Untact Startup Incubation' programs, it developed a next-generation AI-based cyber threat intelligence collection and analysis platform, gaining recognition as a promising company beyond the content creation sector. Based on these achievements, the MSS is sparing no effort to provide full support for strengthening the AI startup ecosystem and facilitating global scale-up. Through the newly established 'AI Core Fields and Fabless Startup Strategy Program' this year, it actively supports technological advancement in high-growth areas such as Small Language Models (sLLM) and industry-specific demand-based collaboration. Furthermore, it plans to accelerate entry into the global market by promoting cooperation with global corporations such as LG Electronics and Qualcomm through the 'AI Super Gap Challenge,' and by intensively pursuing domestic IPO and global investment attraction programs. Notably, on May 13th, the '2025 Super Gap Startup Renovation Day' will be held to share past support achievements and announce even stronger global scale-up support policies. Oh Young-ju, Minister of MSS, affirmed her commitment, stating, "We will fully implement relevant policies to ensure excellent domestic AI startups gain recognition for their world-class technology in the global market." The continuous support from the MSS and the efforts of innovative startups will serve as a crucial stepping stone for South Korea to leap forward as a global AI powerhouse.
