Flitto, Data Partner for Upstage's Proprietary AI Foundation Model National Project

Flitto Selected as Key Lead Agency for Data in 100 Trillion Won 'Korean-style LLM' National AI Strategic Project A significant step has begun towards securing South Korea's AI technology independence and global competitiveness. Flitto, a company specializing in artificial intelligence language data, has been chosen as the lead agency to oversee the construction of learning and evaluation data, which will be the core driving force for the development of the Korean-style Large Language Model (LLM) in the 100 trillion won 'AI National Strategic Project' promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. This project will proceed over the next five years, with the ambitious goal of establishing AI sovereignty and leading the global market through the development of proprietary Korean-style LLM technology. Flitto will go beyond supplying high-quality data, which determines model performance, to play a pivotal role in designing the foundation of the Korean-style LLM. Flitto's multilingual communication technology and its experience in providing AI simultaneous interpretation solutions at global IT company events demonstrate its unique technological prowess and practical applicability. In particular, it is expected to serve as an opportunity to change the reality of domestic companies that have been passive in data investment. Flitto has been closely collaborating with Upstage, which has proven global-level performance with its own LLM 'SOLAR,' from the early stages of model development, thereby demonstrating that the organic combination of data and models is essential for realizing technological capabilities. The consortium leading this project is a powerful startup-centric alliance dubbed the 'AI Dream Team.' Top experts from various fields have come together, led by Upstage, along with Nota AI, which possesses on-device AI and lightweight model optimization technology, Lablup with its hyperscale AI system design capabilities, and KAIST and Sogang University, responsible for AI theoretical research and talent development. Their strength lies in their overwhelming expertise in AI technology and rapid execution capabilities, with a strong commitment to fulfilling the national agenda of 'realizing sovereign AI.' Leveraging its participation in this project, Flitto plans to accelerate the expansion of next-generation business models, including multilingual AI solutions, industry-specific language models, global SaaS-based services, and advanced NPU-based translation technology. Flitto's CoT (Chain of Thought) data development capabilities, which have obtained DQ certification, and its accumulated know-how in building RLHF-based training data over many years are core competencies for LLM development. Flitto intends to leverage these to focus on designing models optimized for various multilingual domains.
