Delightroom Publishes High-Precision Sleep Stage AI Paper 'Sensus'
Delightroom, which operates the global sleep-wake solution 'Alarmi,' has once again proven its leadership in the sleep tech field by publishing a research paper on an innovative sleep respiration analysis artificial intelligence (AI) model in 'Sensors,' an authoritative SCI-grade international academic journal in the field of sensor technology. The AI model unveiled this time is based on the speech recognition model 'Whisper' and was developed by training a vast dataset of respiratory sounds from 287 individuals. Particularly noteworthy is that it maintains high, unwavering analysis accuracy even in noisy environments with external sounds or sounds of tossing and turning. Following its initial presentation of the respiration analysis model at the International Conference on Electronics, Information and Communication (ICEIC) last January, Delightroom's research team additionally revealed in this paper specific methodologies for precisely identifying an individual's sleep stages based on the derived respiratory characteristics. The research results showed a groundbreaking improvement in performance, surpassing existing methodologies. The accuracy of predicting respiratory cycles improved by an impressive 30-60%, and the error in sleep stage analysis was reduced by over 20%. In particular, the ability to identify which stage a subject is in—deep sleep, light sleep, or REM sleep—with 90% accuracy (within a 10% error margin) is being hailed as opening new horizons in sleep analysis technology. Delightroom plans to actively utilize these groundbreaking research achievements to enhance 'Alarmi's' features. Users will now be able to have their sleep quality precisely analyzed using only their smartphone's built-in microphone sensor, without the need for separate wearable devices. Alarmi is expected to evolve into an advanced 'sleep coach,' periodically providing detailed information on sleep efficiency and recovery, and suggesting the most suitable alarm times for users. Shin Jae-myung, CEO of Delightroom, emphasized, "We are continuously dedicated to research and development with the goal of creating a 'super app' in sleep tech that improves the entire sleep process with just Alarmi." He also expressed his ambition, stating, "Building on this achievement, we will introduce various innovative features to help Alarmi users worldwide achieve a 'successful morning.'" Delightroom's latest research is expected to bring a new wave to the smartphone-based sleep health management market.
