DayOne Company, a leading provider of adult education content in Korea, is joining the 'Independent AI Foundation Model' development project, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, aiming for the significant goal of securing Korea's AI technological sovereignty. As a key education partner of the Upstage consortium, DayOne Company has taken on the crucial role of strengthening AI literacy across the nation.
This ambitious project aims to independently develop a world-class AI foundation model by 2027, with Upstage, as the sole startup lead, spearheading the development of the large language model 'SOLAR WBL'.
Beyond simply delivering technical theory, DayOne Company focuses on planning and operating practical educational content that helps people effectively utilize AI in daily life and work. Utilizing its proprietary Learning Management System (LMS) and studio infrastructure, it plans to offer customized online courses, industry-specific practice kits, and nationwide AI hackathons and competitions, catering to all generations from elementary school students to adults and working professionals. With a comprehensive education curriculum covering everything from basic AI understanding to ethical utilization and practical application, the company aims to significantly contribute to 'fostering digital specialized talent'.
Lee Kang-min, CEO of DayOne Company, emphasized that "AI capability is no longer the exclusive domain of specific experts, but a mandatory competence that all citizens must possess," and stated, "We will build an educational ecosystem where everyone can proactively understand and utilize AI, and mobilize DayOne Company's accumulated practical education know-how to make a tangible contribution to securing Korea's AI technological sovereignty."
DayOne Company, which successfully operates numerous educational brands such as 'Fast Campus' and 'Coloso', recorded sales of 127.7 billion won in 2024 and became the first full-stack adult education company in Korea to be listed on KOSDAQ. Through this project, it is expected to open a new horizon for AI education in South Korea.
