Dayone Company's vocational skill education brand, Coloso, is garnering attention as a global success story, having recorded revenue growth in the Japanese market for three consecutive years. Coloso, which first entered the US and Japanese markets in 2021, has gained significant popularity due to its practice-oriented educational content that imparts the know-how of experts in various fields such as hair, baking, design, and illustration, aligning well with Japan's apprenticeship-style education culture. In particular, Coloso Japan's performance is impressive. Its annual transaction value grew from 920 million yen in 2023 to 1.07 billion yen in 2024, marking a 16.3% year-over-year growth and reaching approximately 30 billion Korean Won. This sustained growth is attributed to differentiated content and localized marketing strategies. Coloso Japan currently offers over 620 online educational content pieces, 45% of which are original content tailored specifically for the Japanese market. As original content accounts for about 55% of total revenue, there are plans to further expand this proportion in the future. Popular content from last year contributed to bridging the information gap in the Japanese animation industry and fostering experts. Representative examples include video artist Popurika's 'NPR Animation Video Made with Only Blender,' which attracted about 1,000 students within a month of its release; animator hide's 'Figure Drawing Practice Drills for Any Angle'; and animation director Shingo Yamashita's 'From Commercial Animation Workflow to Production Practice.' Coloso Japan is expanding its content scope beyond existing areas to include figure production, voice acting, flower design, and know-how for self-employment, thereby pioneering new markets. In particular, the 'Voice Acting Entrance Academy' course, taught by veteran Japanese voice actor Yuji Mitsuya, garnered an explosive response immediately after its launch, proving its potential for success. Jang Hyeong-bum, head of Dayone Company's Japan Business Division, emphasized, "While Japan has a well-developed traditional apprenticeship education system, demand for online education is increasing with digital transformation," and added, "Coloso's practice-oriented content is successfully responding to these market changes." After entering the Japanese market in 2021 without a local entity, Dayone Company opened a local office in Tokyo's Marunouchi in 2024 and expanded its initial local workforce of 2 to the current 10 employees. These employees are dedicated to developing local original content and marketing activities, driving the growth of Coloso Japan. Lee Kang-min, CEO of Dayone Company, stated his ambition, saying, "Coloso Japan's success is a case that demonstrates the global competitiveness of Korean adult education content," and added, "We will continue to achieve sustained success in the global market with differentiated content tailored to local markets."
