Davida, an educational technology company, opened a new horizon in the education sector by winning the grand prize in the Innovation Track at the '7th Startup Idea Competition,' hosted by Gwacheon City, Gyeonggi Province, with its AI-based self-directed learning platform, 'GeniTeacher.' At the competition held on the 11th, Davida received the highest honor in the Innovation Track category, which targets companies established between 3 and 7 years ago.
Davida's core solution, 'GeniTeacher,' is a hybrid educational technology that instantly converts handwritten notes on paper or tablets into digital data, and artificial intelligence analyzes this in real-time to provide personalized feedback optimized for each learner. This innovative approach breaks down the boundaries between analog and digital, online and offline, helping learners to proactively lead their own learning processes.
Lee Eun-seung, CEO of Davida, presented the company's unique technological capabilities and ambitious global vision at the competition, earning high praise from the judges. Davida is currently preparing for a global market launch with 10 overseas partners, and is accelerating its overseas expansion, particularly by focusing on the Middle Eastern market, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.
CEO Lee's startup story reveals the deep background behind the development of 'GeniTeacher.' He struggled with incorrect math learning methods during high school but, through repeated attempts at college entrance exams, he restarted from the basics, eventually achieved a perfect score in math, and went on to major in Mathematics and Computer Engineering at UC Irvine. He stated that this personal experience inspired him to conceive of a handwriting-based AI learning assistant in 2008, and after a remarkable 17 years, 'GeniTeacher' finally came to fruition.
Building on this award, Davida plans to accelerate its domestic and international market expansion by receiving practical follow-up support, including entry into Gwacheon City's Startup Incubation Center, pitching opportunities at the demo day in the second half of the year, and linkage with government projects.
Meanwhile, in addition to this award, Davida has already demonstrated its excellent technological capabilities and potential for overseas market entry on numerous occasions. Its value has been recognized through an impressive history of awards, including selection for the 2nd Seoul Fintech Lab, the 2024 CES Innovation Award, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, a 'Silver' award at Japan's AES Global Awards, and an 'Excellent' selection for ICT R&D by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
