Amidst the reality where the 5-year survival rate of domestic startups, announced by Statistics Korea, is merely 34.7%, real estate information platform ‘Dabang’ has demonstrated exceptional strength as it celebrates its 12th anniversary since service launch. First introduced in 2013, Dabang surpassed 1 million users within a year of its app launch and currently boasts over 26 million cumulative downloads and more than 50 million cumulative listings, establishing itself as a leading proptech platform in every sense of the word.
Dabang's success is attributed to accurately identifying the needs of millennials and Gen Z (the 2030 generation) who had difficulty accessing real estate information at the time, and rapidly capturing the market by introducing a mobile app with differentiated UI/UX. Subsequently, Dabang went beyond simply providing listing information, offering user-customized services and real-time market analysis based on extensive data, thereby enhancing the platform's value. Notably, by introducing ‘Petsekkwon’ (pet-friendly neighborhood) information for pet-owning households (July last year) and ‘Dongne Iyagi’ (Neighborhood Stories), a user communication community (April this year), it has deeply integrated into users' daily lives. Furthermore, with visualized jeonse/wolse (rental deposit/monthly rent) and sales price analyses like ‘Dabang Yeojido’ (Dabang Map), and content analyzing major real estate issues such as "reverse jeonse" situations, it provides practical insights to actual buyers/renters.
Another key driver of Dabang's growth is co-prosperity with its certified real estate agent partners. Dabang recognizes agents as core partners and has strengthened cooperative relationships since the early days of its service. It solidified its partnership through the signing of an MOU with the Korea Association of Real Estate Agents in 2022 and by providing practical benefits such as advertising fee discounts the following year. In particular, the ‘AI Detailed Description Automatic Generation’ feature introduced last December significantly improved the efficiency of agents' listing registration tasks, drawing attention as a prime example of co-prosperity.
A Dabang official emphasized, "The trust and co-prosperity with tenants and partner agents are the core drivers that have built Dabang's unique ecosystem and led its long-term growth." To strengthen intimacy with its main user base, the 2030 generation, it is also actively conducting online and offline experiential marketing. Twelve years of growth is the result of continuous innovation based on trust with users and partners, and Dabang will continue to strive to become a unique and indispensable comprehensive real estate platform in the future.
