Global fandom platform 'b.stage' has officially launched an e-commerce mall in the form of a mini-program within WeChat, China's largest messenger app, for its fan-centric platform 'b.stage+,' thereby embarking on a full-scale offensive into the Chinese market. Through this collaboration, Chinese K-POP fans will be able to more conveniently purchase various K-culture products, such as K-POP albums and merchandise, within the WeChat app. This strategy reflects the importance of the Chinese K-POP fandom, which possesses strong purchasing power. In 2024, the export value of Korean music albums to China was approximately 86.8 billion won (59.789 million USD), accounting for about 20% of the total album export market. Chinese fandom goes beyond simple purchases, demonstrating a characteristic of repeated and bulk buying of albums and merchandise, and is thus recognized as a key driving force for the growth of the K-POP industry. b.stage+ plans to expand its service awareness in China and significantly enhance fans' purchasing accessibility through the WeChat mini-program, which boasts 1.1 billion monthly active users. The WeChat mini-program provides an optimized shopping experience for fans by allowing them to quickly browse and purchase products without the need for a separate app installation. b.stage+ also intends to solidify its position in the Chinese market by ensuring stable sales growth, swift settlements, efficient customer service (CS), and logistics optimization, thereby securing operational convenience. Seowoo Seok, CEO of BeMyFriends, stated, "Beyond simply expanding distribution channels, we are preparing to offer services optimized for Chinese fans' preferred purchasing methods, along with WeChat-exclusive benefits and various fan events. Moving forward, we will further refine the fandom commerce model based on fan purchase data to establish a sustainable growth foundation in the global market." With the launch of this WeChat mini-program, b.stage+ plans to expand new shopping experiences to fans worldwide, overcoming the limitations of fandom experience caused by national borders. Furthermore, in the future, beyond e-commerce, it plans to continuously expand fan-participatory content such as real-time communication and fan events, providing experiences that allow global fandoms to connect more broadly.
