AI Smart Temperature Control Mat: Core of Startup Innovation

KyungDong Navien is drawing attention by introducing an innovative sound sleep solution through collaboration with sleep tech startup ASLEEP. The recently launched ‘Navien Sound Sleep Mat Four Seasons’ crucially incorporates ASLEEP's AI-based sleep stage recognition and temperature control algorithm. The biggest feature of this technology is its ability to detect the user's breathing sounds via a smartphone, precisely analyze sleep stages, and automatically adjust the mat temperature. Its convenience, implemented solely through a smartphone without separate sensors or wearable devices, stands out. ASLEEP is recognized as a company possessing world-class AI sleep diagnosis and analysis technology, and its combination with KyungDong Navien's precise temperature control technology has given birth to a next-generation sleep tech product called 'AI Sleep Mode'. The AI sound sleep solution focuses on minimizing awakenings during sleep. Particularly, considering that core body temperature is lowest during deep sleep stages, the mat temperature is subtly raised to prevent sleep disturbance caused by excessive cooling. Conversely, during light sleep or REM sleep, it maintains an optimal temperature, helping users fall asleep comfortably and maintain deep sleep. According to ASLEEP's ‘2025 Korea Sleep Report,’ sleep efficiency significantly decreases and awakenings during sleep become frequent in hot summer months due to tropical nights and high humidity. The effectiveness of the ‘AI Sleep Mode’ applied in the ‘Navien Sound Sleep Mat Four Seasons’ has been proven through rigorous clinical studies based on polysomnography (PSG). Summer study results showed that when the AI temperature control function was used, sleep efficiency improved by 6.4%, and the time spent awake during sleep decreased by 39%. Furthermore, a winter study that validated the existing heating AI Sleep Mode also confirmed that sleep efficiency improved by 4.5% and deep sleep duration increased by 124%, demonstrating that adjusting temperature according to sleep stages with AI functionality significantly contributes to overall sleep quality improvement. These research findings have been selected as an abstract for the 'SLEEP 2025' annual scientific meeting of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, making it the first time for a domestic sleep tech startup, and is awaiting presentation. This has become an opportunity for ASLEEP's technological innovativeness to be recognized globally.
