Xcube Officially Launches 'HEXA,' AI Multi-Organ Diagnostic Assistance Software Based on Chest CT: Strengthening the Medical Diagnostic Safety Net
In busy clinical settings, medical professionals face the challenge of potentially overlooking subtle abnormalities in organs other than the primary disease. To dramatically reduce the possibility of such diagnostic omissions, health tech company Xcube has officially unveiled 'HEXA,' a multi-organ artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostic assistance software based on chest CT images, thereby opening new horizons in medical AI diagnostics. This launch is the result of an advanced development process utilizing actual clinical data, supported by the Seoul BioHub's 'Hospital-Based Medical Data Utilization Support Project.'
**Simultaneous Analysis of 6 Major Organs, Minimizing Diagnostic Omissions**
HEXA is an innovative solution where AI autonomously identifies and visually indicates suspected abnormal areas in six major organs – including the thyroid, heart, lungs, liver, breasts, and spine – with just a single chest CT scan. This plays a crucial role in the early detection of potential risks to patients by capturing even subtle changes in adjacent organs that are easily overlooked by medical professionals while focusing on diagnosing a specific disease.
**Efficient Workflow and Clinician-Centric UI**
HEXA maximizes medical professionals' work efficiency by initiating analysis as soon as CT images are received, thanks to its 'AutoRun' function. Notably, it adopts a user interface (UI) that strongly assists clinicians in making their final independent judgments by clearly visually indicating suspicious areas rather than suggesting specific disease names. This reflects Xcube's philosophy, which designed the AI to faithfully serve as a complementary safety net rather than infringing upon medical professionals' diagnoses.
**Proven Technology and Future Vision**
This innovation was made possible thanks to the support of Seoul BioHub and close collaborative research and development (R&BD) with medical institutions. Through this process, the algorithm's accuracy was verified, and reading efficiency dramatically improved. 'HEXA:BASE,' a Class 1 medical device already equipped with basic viewer functions, has demonstrated a high accuracy of approximately 96% at the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTL) and is currently actively used in over 10 medical institutions. The advanced version, 'HEXA Pro,' which includes AI automatic detection capabilities, is accelerating technological refinement for Class 2 medical device approval.
Im Jae-kwan, CEO of Xcube, emphasized that HEXA "will serve as a reliable safety net, providing an additional check for even subtle abnormal findings that medical professionals might miss in busy clinical settings." Beyond expanding its adoption in domestic medical institutions, Xcube is actively exploring entry into promising overseas markets such as Indonesia, aiming to leap forward as a global health tech company. HEXA is expected to reduce the diagnostic burden on medical professionals and contribute to building a future healthcare environment that prioritizes patient safety.
