Venture Association Board Nominates Com2us Chair Song Byeong-jun for Next President

The Korea Venture Business Association (KOVA) announced the birth of new leadership for the venture industry by recommending Song Byung-joon, Chairman of Com2uS, as the next association chairman through the '1st Regular Board Meeting of 2025' held on the 19th at Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, Seoul. The final election is scheduled to take place at the general assembly on the 28th. Chairman Song currently serves as the association's vice chairman, and on the 13th, he was unanimously recommended by the Chairman Recommendation Committee, composed of former chairmen, making him the sole candidate for the 12th chairman. It is analyzed that his leadership and deep understanding of the venture ecosystem are the background for this recommendation. Chairman Song, who founded a venture startup club and served as its first president during his time in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University, displayed his entrepreneurial spirit early on. He left a distinct mark in the venture industry by founding Com2uS Holdings, which represents the first generation of mobile games in Korea. He expressed deep gratitude for the support from senior venture entrepreneurs, including the late Honorary Chairman Lee Min-hwa, founder of KOVA, and Byun Dae-gyu, Chairman of Humax Holdings. He further stated his ambition to dedicate himself to fostering junior venture entrepreneurs and revitalizing the ecosystem, building upon the foundation laid by the first generation of venture capitalists. Particularly after acquiring Com2uS in 2013, he elevated the status of Korean mobile games through bold global market entry strategies. His flagship title, 'Summoners War: Sky Arena,' surpassed $3 billion in global cumulative sales, achieving overwhelming success with 90% of that revenue generated from overseas markets. Recently, he has continuously demonstrated innovation by expanding business areas into cultural content and Web3.0 ventures. Chairman Song has consistently strived to nurture next-generation entrepreneurs through startup mentoring and venture startup support programs, making significant contributions to the development of the IT and cultural content industries. Furthermore, he is praised as a versatile individual who actively participates in the development of culture and arts, having served as Chairman of the National Ballet Sponsorship Council and Chairman of the Young Friends Committee of the National Museum of Korea.
