Song Jin-woo, General Manager (GM) of Uber Taxi Korea, stated at the press conference commemorating the first anniversary of its rebranding, “We can now demonstrate concrete results in Seoul,” and revealed confident aspirations for innovating the domestic mobility market. Over the past year, Uber Taxi has achieved explosive growth, with usage increasing by over 50% and the number of affiliated drivers more than doubling, and its core dispatch success rate has also significantly improved.
This success is attributed to aggressive marketing and the introduction of global systems after the company name change from ‘UT’ to ‘Uber Taxi’. Specifically, by targeting young people who have experienced Uber abroad, the market rapidly expanded, and statistics showing that “1 out of 10 foreigners arriving at Incheon Airport choose Uber Taxi” support this. It is evaluated that global Uber's proven systems, such as two-way ratings and airport-specific services, played a crucial role.
On this day, the launch of ‘U4B (Uber for Business)’, a corporate travel and mobility service, in Korea was also officially announced. U4B, already used by over half of Fortune 500 companies with 84% experiencing cost savings, is attracting significant interest from domestic companies.
In 2025, Uber Taxi will embark on more aggressive expansion with the introduction of the ‘Premier Van’ service, reflecting demand for larger taxis, and the launch of additional new services. Uber Taxi plans to increase users and strengthen its driver pool with a stable dispatch success rate, and by introducing new services that reflect the characteristics of domestic consumers, it aims to offer more choices to both users and the taxi industry. Attention is drawn to Uber Taxi's future steps as it aims to further solidify its position in the domestic mobility market based on its global technology and know-how.
