Medical device development company TR received the prestigious IBK Industrial Bank of Korea President's Award at the '2025 Product of the Year for SMEs Awards' for its innovative 'AI-based Simple and Precise Lung Function Screening Device,' 'The Spirokit.' This awards ceremony, held annually by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Federation of SMEs, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, and others to expand sales channels for small and medium-sized enterprises, recognizes the value of products that have demonstrated outstanding innovation among the 36 excellent SME products selected over the past year, by bestowing them with the main award.
TR's 'The Spirokit' boasts advanced technology where artificial intelligence (AI) automatically analyzes lung function test results based on big data. This sophisticated system supports early diagnosis and proactive treatment of respiratory diseases, and maximizes user convenience by featuring various bronchial provocation test functions and multilingual support.
The company expects a dramatic increase in demand for 'The Spirokit' as lung function tests are newly added to the national health check-up items for citizens aged 56 and 66 starting from 2026. This can be predicted from the precedent where the number of examinees surged after lung cancer was included in the national cancer screening in 2019, and indeed, inquiries for product purchases are currently pouring in from university hospitals and local clinics.
Kim Byeong-su, CEO of TR, emphasized, "This award is a significant achievement that has externally recognized our technological capabilities," and stated, "We are currently on the verge of exporting to Thailand, and market entry consultations with Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, and other countries are actively underway." CEO Kim also added his ambition, stating, "Starting with respiratory products, we will expand our business into a specialized company in the field of rehabilitation medicine, driving future growth."
