Ridi Wins 2nd Korea Copyright Protection Award (Culture Minister's Commendation)
Ridi, a leader in the content industry, once again demonstrated its leadership in safeguarding K-content by receiving the prestigious Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation at the '2nd Korea Copyright Protection Awards'. This esteemed award, hosted by the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, is presented to organizations and companies that have made significant contributions to the protection of K-content copyrights and the development of the creative ecosystem. Ridi's award is no coincidence. Since 2023, it has served as the secretariat of the 'Webtoon Illegal Distribution Response Council,' comprised of 7 major webtoon operators, playing a pivotal role in establishing a robust cooperation system between the industry and government agencies. By sharing the current state of illegal distribution, establishing joint response processes, and submitting collective petitions to strengthen penalties against operators of illegal sites, Ridi has profoundly impacted the entire webtoon industry's efforts to eradicate illegal distribution. Beyond this, Ridi operates its own dedicated team to combat illegal content distribution, running a robust Anti-Piracy program. Through continuous monitoring, it has reported over 100 million instances of copyright infringement and boasts an astonishing block rate of approximately 90% through immediate action upon receiving reports of illegal distribution. This year alone, Ridi has achieved remarkable results in various areas, including the closure of illegal sharing channels based on SNS like Telegram and Discord, responding to illegally uploaded videos on YouTube, blocking the distribution of DRM circumvention programs, and cracking down on illegal overseas merchandise, thereby actively protecting creators' rights. Bae Ki-sik, CEO of Ridi, stated, "Copyright protection is a core value for creators to be guaranteed fair compensation and for the K-content industry to achieve sustainable growth." He further affirmed, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with institutions and the industry to ensure a healthy creative ecosystem can flourish worldwide." Ridi's efforts will serve as an important milestone, illuminating the future of K-content.
