Content platform Ridi has achieved a breakthrough in digital copyright protection. Until now, there was a dominant perception that it was difficult to crack down on copyright infringement channels on Telegram, but Ridi has successfully closed a Telegram channel that was illegally sharing DRM (Digital Rights Management) circumvention programs, thus breaking this conventional wisdom. This measure was achieved through close cooperation between the private and public sectors. The 'Joint Council of Bookstores for Copyright Protection,' which includes major e-book retailers such as Ridi and Aladin, proactively identified illegal channels, collected evidence, and investigated the facts. Subsequently, to highlight the seriousness of the issue, the channel was reported to the Korea Communications Standards Commission, and after procedures such as swift deliberation, resolution, and correction requests, the channel's closure was achieved. The closed Telegram channel was not only sharing DRM circumvention programs but also automatic screen capture tools and watermark removers, causing immense damage to not only e-book platforms but also webtoon and web novel platform companies. Thanks to Ridi's proactive response, the spread of damage from such illegal distribution was effectively prevented. Ridi has assigned dedicated personnel to combat illegal content distribution, consistently monitoring domestic and international websites and major social media platforms, and striving to crack down on illegally distributed content and illicit merchandise. Furthermore, Ridi actively participates in the 'Joint Council of Bookstores for Copyright Protection' and the 'Webtoon Illegal Distribution Response Council,' leading the way in industry-wide copyright protection. A Ridi official stated, "Through this case, we have once again confirmed that illegal distribution threatens the foundation of the content industry," adding, "We will continue to strengthen systematic monitoring of all illegal distribution channels and respond strongly to copyright infringement cases."
