Kakao drew significant attention at 'RightsCon 2025,' an international information human rights event held in Taipei, Taiwan, where it was the only South Korean company invited to present its achievements in contributing to society through digital transformation. Choi Ji-hee, Head of Policy, introduced Kakao's efforts, focusing on public sector cooperation and support cases for small business owners. Kakao is actively contributing to the promotion of mental health. The 'Mental Health Chatbot Service,' provided free of charge since 2024 through collaboration between Kakao Healthcare and the National Center for Mental Health under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, helps users routinely check for issues like lack of motivation and sleep disorders, and obtain information on nearby mental health institutions via Kakao Map. Furthermore, the 'Mind Weather Well-being Index,' jointly developed with the Seoul National University Happiness Research Center through the social contribution platform 'Kakao Gachi (Kakao Together Value),' has surpassed 12.36 million cumulative measurements as of February 2025, contributing to the alleviation of societal depression. In the area of supporting small business owners, KakaoBank's leading role stands out. Last year alone, KakaoBank provided over 2.5 trillion won in loans to medium and low-credit borrowers and disbursed approximately 36 billion won for interest refunds to self-employed loan customers, as well as support for guarantee fees, rent, and heating costs, thereby strengthening financial inclusion. In conjunction with this, through its co-prosperity project 'Project Dan-gol,' KakaoBank supports the revitalization of commercial districts in underserved areas and the digital transformation of small business owners, having provided digital education to 212 markets, 15 commercial areas, and over 2,800 merchants to date. Choi Ji-hee, Head of Policy, emphasized, "Kakao is also striving as a member of the community to enhance the health and human rights of our society," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders to create a healthier and more inclusive digital ecosystem." Kakao's vision, which pursues human dignity and the realization of social values through technology, shined brightly at RightsCon.
