Korean Startups Dream of Global Leap at 'VivaTech 2025', Europe's Largest Innovation Stage
A 'K-Startup' delegation led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) is set to participate in 'VIVA Technology 2025', Europe's largest startup exhibition, to accelerate the global expansion of the Korean startup ecosystem. This is expected to be an important bridgehead for Korean innovative technologies to expand beyond the European market and into the global stage.
VivaTech, held annually since 2016 by the French economic daily Les Échos and Publicis Groupe, is at the forefront of innovative technology. The 2025 event is expected to gather approximately 165,000 visitors, over 13,500 startups, and some 3,000 investors and journalists. Key technology sectors leading the future, such as AI, cybersecurity, sustainability, and mobility, will be covered as main themes, offering an opportunity to grasp global innovation trends at a glance. Notably, Korea was selected as 'Country of the Year' in 2023, proving its strong presence in the European market.
At this event, the MSS will operate the 'K-Startup Pavilion' in collaboration with six domestic startup support organizations, including the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED). The 26 innovative startups participating in the pavilion will receive systematic support, from preliminary training to customized business matching and local networking. Furthermore, through special events such as 'K-Startup Night' for in-depth exchanges with French local investors and media, and 'Super Pitch Korea' targeting prominent investors, they will seek tangible investment attraction and partnership opportunities. Representing diverse fields such as AI, robotics, healthcare, and eco-friendly materials, these startups are ready to showcase Korea's unique technological prowess to the European market.
Shim Jae-yoon, Director-General of Startup Policy at the MSS, stated, "VivaTech is an excellent opportunity for our companies to have their innovative technologies validated in the European market and expand global partnerships," adding, "We will spare no effort in providing full support to help K-startups successfully establish themselves in the European market, using VivaTech as a stepping stone." On a stage shared with global leaders such as President Macron, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault, Korean startups will showcase their innovative capabilities to the world, marking a crucial turning point that will further highlight the competitiveness of the K-Startup ecosystem.
