Wrtn, LG AI Research Institute Partner to Strengthen Exaone-based AI Capabilities

Wrtn Technologies partners with LG AI Research for 'EXAONE' adoption and AI competency enhancement project… K-AI synergy anticipated A significant collaboration has been achieved that will elevate South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) competitiveness to the next level. AI service platform company Wrtn Technologies has adopted LG AI Research's hyperscale language model (LLM) 'EXAONE', and simultaneously, the two companies have signed a strategic business alliance agreement to promote the 'National AI Competency Enhancement Project'. This is a collaboration that shares a grand vision: to make AI easily and conveniently accessible to all citizens, expand the AI technology ecosystem, and strengthen national AI competitiveness. The core objectives of this project are clear. They are to operate customized educational programs for marginalized groups and students with low access to AI, expand the scope of AI technology cooperation, and ultimately elevate the overall AI capabilities of South Korea. To achieve these goals, Wrtn has been moving swiftly, including signing an agreement last month with AI semiconductor company FuriosaAI to build high-performance, high-efficiency AI inference infrastructure. The business alliance agreement between the two companies encompasses a wide range of cooperation, including actively utilizing AI technology and content in education, developing innovative educational planning and services to enhance AI literacy, and creating an environment where AI technology can be applied in real life. This demonstrates a commitment beyond simple technology adoption, aiming for AI to permeate daily life and benefit everyone. Particularly at the heart of this collaboration is 'EXAONE 4.0', unveiled by LG AI Research last month. 'EXAONE 4.0' proved its technological prowess by ranking first among Korean models and within the top 10 globally in the Intelligence Index evaluation by Artificial Analysis, a global AI performance analysis institution. This signifies excellent competitiveness that is not inferior even when compared to leading global AI models that are tens of times larger in scale. Lim Woo-hyung, co-research director at LG AI Research, emphasized, "We will fully dedicate EXAONE's advanced technological capabilities to strengthening the AI competencies of all citizens and create user-centric innovation through collaboration with Wrtn Technologies." Lee Se-young, CEO of Wrtn, also stated his ambition, saying, "National AI competitiveness begins with the AI capabilities of individual citizens," and "We will closely collaborate with various companies for AI technologies and services that all citizens can experience utility from in real life, not just in laboratories." Wrtn plans to combine LG AI Research's EXAONE model and FuriosaAI's second-generation AI inference accelerator 'RNGD (Renegade)' in this project to create powerful synergies within the K-AI technology enterprise ecosystem. This collaboration is expected to be a significant turning point for South Korea to leap forward as a leading AI nation.
