Starstech, a leader in climate technology, has been recognized for achieving the largest carbon reduction performance among domestic small and medium-sized enterprises, acquiring a whopping 30,087 tons of carbon credits from the KCCI Carbon Standard. This remarkable achievement, verified for its performance throughout 2024, proves Starstech's innovative climate response capabilities. The KCCI Carbon Standard is a key private program that officially certifies corporate greenhouse gas reductions and converts them into voluntarily tradable carbon credits both domestically and internationally.
Starstech's innovation begins with 'starfish,' a marine waste product. By upcycling starfish, they have developed and supplied eco-friendly de-icers 'ECO-ST' and 'ECO-ST2,' successfully building a circular climate technology model that simultaneously encompasses climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The flagship product, 'ECO-ST,' despite being the same price as existing eco-friendly de-icers, boasts a different level of performance. It has demonstrated excellent eco-friendliness, including a lower iron corrosion rate than water, over 90% reduction in road pavement damage, and up to 70% reduction in soil pollution and crop damage. Notably, 'ECO-ST2' is the only de-icer certified as an innovative product by the Public Procurement Service in Korea, and is recognized for its value as the world's only de-icer granted carbon credits. This clearly demonstrates its contribution to achieving carbon neutrality simply through product use. Currently supplied to public roads in local governments nationwide, it firmly maintains its No. 1 market share in the domestic eco-friendly de-icer market.
Yang Seung-chan, CEO of Starstech, stated, "Starstech's de-icers are products that benefit the climate the more they are used," and repeatedly expressed his commitment to expanding sustainable climate tech solutions through the circular utilization of marine resources.
Since its establishment in 2017, Starstech has been fulfilling its mission of 'saving the world with waste' by developing eco-friendly de-icers utilizing marine waste, as well as fertilizers and patented collagen ingredients. To date, the company continues its innovative trajectory, having accumulated over 56,000 tons of recognized carbon credits, and solidifying its technological prowess and social value through numerous domestic and international certifications.
